Defibtech Products Conform to 2015 Guidelines Regarding Resuscitation Recommendations

January 3, 2016  •  Guilford, CT

On October 15, 2015, the American Heart Association (AHA) and European Resuscitation Council (ERC) each published on-line their 2015 resuscitation recommendations. Defibtech, a leading manufacturer of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and other lifesaving resuscitation devices, conducted a review of these guidelines and the products Defibtech manufacturers. These include the AED products (Lifeline or ReviveR) and the new automated chest compression (ACC) device, the Lifeline ARM. The review determined that all of Defibtech’s products currently shipping, and those updated to the latest software versions, conform to the newest 2015 AHA/ERC resuscitation guidelines. Included in this review were AEDs with additional features for guiding compressions during CPR, as well as the chest compression parameters provided by the automated chest compression device.

In these latest recommendations, the importance of high quality chest compressions during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are re-emphasized, upper targets for adult compression rate and depth have been further refined, the importance of early defibrillation, and the links in the chain of survival have all been re-affirmed.

Any Defibtech products that were previously updated to support at least the 2010 resuscitation guidelines also conform to the current guidelines. Field upgrade cards are available to upgrade Defibtech AEDs running older software versions. These cards are available free of charge and allow users to upgrade their AEDs quickly and easily on location. For questions about the software version of units in the field, and how to obtain an upgrade card, please contact Defibtech customer service at 866-333-4241 or 203-453-5407, or service@defibtech.com.
