Placing More AEDs in 2023

Placing More AEDs in 2023

January 4, 2023

The start of each New Year is a great time to evaluate our mission and the work we are doing each and every day to help increase survival from sudden cardiac arrest.

At Defibtech, we put a lot of focus on the American Heart Association Sudden Cardiac Arrest Chain of Survival which consists of 6 steps:

  1. Activation of Emergency Response
  2. High Quality CPR
  3. Rapid Defibrillation
  4. Advanced Resuscitation
  5. Post Sudden Cardiac Arrest Care
  6. Recovery

The first three links in the chain of survival occur before an ambulance arrives on scene, and if done quickly, can lead to a higher chance of survival. As an AED manufacturer, we additionally emphasize and educate people on the third link, rapid defibrillation.

Rapid Defibrillation with an AED

When someone suffers sudden cardiac arrest, it is crucial there is an AED deployed within 3 minutes. Each minute that goes by without an AED being used, decreases survival chances by 10%. In 2023, we are working to deploy more AEDs to ensure that when sudden cardiac arrest strikes, the person has the highest possible chance of survival.

Deploying More AEDs Starts with Public Awareness

Deploying more AEDs starts with education and awareness. We take pride in helping people understand the difference between sudden cardiac arrest and a heart attack, helping people remember to just keep calm and turn the AED on, and why AEDs should be everywhere. The more education and awareness that we raise will result in more people understanding the need for not only having an AED, but having an AED within 3 minutes of all locations.

We also will continue to strengthen our relationship with our amazing nonprofit partners. These organizations work hard in their own communities to increase survival from sudden cardiac arrest. Many of these organizations have been personally affected by sudden cardiac arrest and therefore, are more passionate than anyone about deploying more AEDs and helping save more lives.

Fostering Community Enagement

We will continue to build and strengthen the relationships in our local community. We have worked closely with our local EMS organizations as well as local businesses to ensure they are as heart safe as possible.
