Defibtech announced today that it has won a Connecticut Quality Improvement Award (CQIA) Innovation Prize, for its Lifeline VIEW™ AED. The 23-year old Connecticut Quality Improvement Award (CQIA) is the nation’s first state level quality award using the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award for Performance Excellence and Innovation criteria in a campaign to advance innovative programs that improve quality, performance and marketplace competitiveness. The Defibtech Lifeline VIEW™ AED is the first and only AED with a full-color, full-motion video display. Previous generations of Defibtech AEDs provide voice prompts to guide a user through a rescue. By adding full-motion video and on-screen text prompts, the user is provided with three modes of instruction, making the use of the AED practically fool-proof. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., today. Defibtech, LLC, is initiating a voluntary recall of 5,418 DBP-2800 Battery Packs used in the Lifeline AED® and ReviveR AED™ (semi-automatic external defibrillators). This recall affects all DBP-2800 Battery Packs shipped prior to June 4, 2007. In rare instances, when the AED is used with an affected battery pack, the AED may falsely detect an error condition during charging for a shock, then cancel charge and not provide therapy. Defibtech determined the need for this recall after learning of four reports from end users of this malfunction during patient use....read more...
