Defibtech Ships Lifeline VIEWTM AEDs to France

Guilford, CT
December 31, 2011

Defibtech, LLC, a leading innovator in the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) market, today announced that it has begun shipments of French-speaking Lifeline VIEWTM Automated External Defibrillators to France. With this shipment, Defibtech adds to the growing number of languages available for the Lifeline VIEW AED, and to the number of Lifeline VIEW AEDs that have been shipped around the world.

The Lifeline VIEW AED integrates video, voice, pictures and text to help save the life of a sudden cardiac arrest victim in real time. During an emergency, the VIEW AED guides a rescuer through each step of CPR and defibrillation like no other AED on the market, literally showing and telling rescuer what to do to save a life. For example, when the VIEW’s voice prompt says, “Place pads on patient’s chest,” the video shows the rescuer exactly where to place the pads.

The Lifeline VIEW AED is currently available in versions that speak and show text instructions in English, French, Dutch and German. Lifeline VIEW AEDs, Defibtech’s newest generation of Automated External Defibrillators, have been shipped to several international locations, including Australia, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Netherlands, Ireland and Switzerland.

“The international market is very excited about the Lifeline VIEW AED,” said Gianfranco Buchbinder, Defibtech’s vice president of international sales. “In France, the VIEW AED was the recipient of the 2011 SMCL Innovation Award, for advanced product innovation and utility, at the Exhibition for French Mayors and Local Authorities. This award recognizes the usefulness of the full-color video coaching in what can be a stressful situation.”

DefibFrance, the company that is Defibtech’s exclusive distributor in France, also recently won a tender to supply the public hospitals of Paris, and its suburbs, with Defibtech AEDs.

AEDs revive victims of sudden cardiac arrest caused by ventricular fibrillation. Studies show that if victims are defibrillated within a minute or two after arrest, more than 70 percent survive. If defibrillation is delayed for more than 10 minutes, only 5 percent live, making immediate access to AEDs vital.
