Defibtech Named One of Connecticut’s Fastest Growing Tech Companies for the Third Consecutive Year

Guilford, CT
October 22, 2009

Defibtech has been named to the Connecticut Technology Council’s 2009 UHY LLP Tech Top 40 program, a celebration of the 40 fastest growing Software, IT, New Media, Advanced Manufacturing, Energy/Telecom/Green Tech and Life Sciences companies in Connecticut. Selection was based on the percentage revenue growth over four years from 2005–2008.

Defibtech designs and manufactures automated external defibrillators (AEDs), which can revive victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Health experts estimate that sudden cardiac arrest kills more people in the United States than gun violence, traffic accidents, AIDS, and breast and prostate cancer combined.

“We set out to design and manufacture an AED that is affordable and easy to use,” Defibtech president Gintaras Vaisnys said. “We are very proud to have achieved our goal and in the process to have sustained a high level of growth year after year.”

Defibtech’s Lifeline™ and ReviveR™ defibrillators can be found in public access areas, workplaces, police and fire vehicles, schools and churches, health clubs, and other locations. The Defibtech AED’s audible voice prompts, which guide users during rescues, are available in 15 different languages. Defibtech AEDs have been deployed in more than 35 countries – the United States, Canada, China, India, Australia, and other nations in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.

Defibtech has received this award for two consecutive years and three years ago Defibtech was named the number one fastest-growing technology company in Connecticut and the seventh fastest-growing technology company in North America by Deloitte and Touche, one of the nation’s leading professional services organizations. Defibtech has received a number of other awards; among them are the Medical Design Excellence Award, presented by Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry magazine, and the Industrial Design Excellence Award, presented by the Industrial Designers Society of America and Business Week magazine.
