Defibtech Lifeline AEDs Protect Travelers Around the World

Defibtech Lifeline ™ automated external defibrillators (AEDs) save lives by providing rapid treatment to travelers and transportation workers who suffer sudden cardiac arrest in airports and on airlines, rail networks and waterways. The entire family of Lifeline AEDs, including the VIEW, PRO and ECG, will be displayed at the Business Airport World Expo 2012 in Cannes, France.

Madrid-Barajas Airport, serving 130,000 passengers a day, deploys 65 Lifeline AEDs. The Thai Airways International fleet has 60 Lifeline AEDs and plans to add 30 Lifeline VIEW AEDs. The VIEW provides video instructions guiding the rescuer. For example, when the View’s audio says, “Place pads on patient’s chest,” the video shows exactly where to place the pads.

The Lifeline PRO provides professional responders with full manual control over shock energy and delivery. In manual mode, an ECG appears on the PRO’s color video display, and the rescuer can select the energy level and decide when to initiate charge and shock. In AED mode, the PRO can display either an ECG or video instructions for the rescuer. The Lifeline ECG also can show an ECG, but does not provide manual defibrillation.

“Millions of people pass through airports and travel on airlines, trains and boats each day. These sheer numbers make these locations likely places for sudden cardiac arrest to occur,” said Defibtech president Gintaras Vaisnys. “Also, it’s impossible for paramedics to reach a jetliner at 30,000 feet. You need an AED onboard.”
