Over 2,600 Defibtech Defibrillators are Ordered by the State of New Jersey
Guilford, CT – August 30, 2005 – Defibtech announced today that over 2,600 of the Company's Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) have been ordered by the State of New Jersey for deployment in police, fire and EMS vehicles, as well as in a variety of public facilities.
In July 2005, the State of New Jersey ordered 1,682 units for statewide deployment in police cars. This order represented one of the largest public access AED deployments on record. Now, less than two months after this initial purchase, over 1,000 additional units have been ordered by the state. The AEDs will be placed in fire and EMS emergency vehicles and in various public buildings.
Over the past two years alone, Defibtech AEDs have been chosen by a growing number of states including Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico and Utah, with more than 5,000 Defibtech AEDs ordered. According to the company president and co-founder, Gintaras Vaisnys, Defibtech AEDs have become the defibrillators of choice for large-scale, statewide purchases.

AEDs revive victims of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) caused by ventricular fibrillation. A victim's chances of survival are reduced by 7 to 10 percent with every minute that passes without defibrillation. Few attempts at resuscitation succeed after 10 minutes. Immediate access to AEDs is vital for a victim's survival.
