Job Description:

Defibtech is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Manufacturing Operation in Branford, CT. The successful candidate will join a highly effective team in the transition of new products into our manufacturing environment. Responsibilities will include Electrical Engineering support in the design and testing of fixtures and test stations. Ensure product reliability through theoretical analysis and test development and execution. Support our Manufacturing uptime by identifying electrical components at risk, evaluating and validating alternatives. Work actively within our Manufacturing Engineering group alongside Manufacturing Engineers, IT and QA personnel as well.  She/he will collaborate with contract manufacturers (CMs) and upstream suppliers, as well as Defibtech’s cross functional teams to design, develop, and drive improvements into our manufacturing processes.

Ideally, the candidate will possess expertise particularly related to the design of electronic circuits and associated manufacturing technologies and will provide technical guidance and analysis in the areas of electronic circuit design, component qualification, reliability, and test development.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with Defibtech’s engineering team to provide early and ongoing manufacturing involvement in the design process to ensure new products are manufacturable, i.e. drive for Design for Manufacturability.
  • Provide sustaining engineering, partnering closely with supply chain and CM’s to identify electronic material component issues and prioritize and coordinate risk mitigation activities.
  • Driving the investigation of product failures through root-cause investigations, performing analysis, developing test protocols and implementing corrective actions utilizing the ECO process.
  • Developing field risk assessments, accelerated-life-testing (HALT/HASS), environmental testing and protocol development to support analyses.
  • Understanding and experience of electronic design, EMC/EMI mitigation techniques, manufacturing and assembly processes desirable.
  • Experience in medical device regulations, particularly risk management and electrical safety regulatory standards, both domestic and international beneficial.
  • Applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, automation, and materials to improve current processes and develop new manufacturing processes, in-house, at CMs and up-stream suppliers.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering; MS preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with the following: electronics product ramp up, manufacturing engineering, medical device, process development, sustaining, and testing roles.
  • Project management skills with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Detail orientation with a strong quality mindset. Enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all business levels and functions, both internally and with vendors.
  • Knowledge of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, logic analyzers, waveform analyzer, electrical testing equipment, environmental testing equipment, PC and instrumentation. Bench top testing and troubleshooting with typical lab equipment.
  • MS Office, PC and Databases.
